The Coalition for Public Safety’s reached out to us and wanted the next iteration of their web presence to be built by our engineers inside San Quentin, we were honored to do our best. The result, a website that integrates the latest technologies to create an eye-catching and complex solution. Built using the open source Keystone Node.js CMS & Web Application Platform powered by Express and MongoDB, the site integrates Twitter feeds, retweeting capability, video support, and high-quality image management capabilities by utilizing the Cloudinary Content Delivery Network.
The website implements many useful features. For instance, instead of reloading entire pages, we decided to implement a single page application workflow utilizing AJAX functionality to increasing speed, reliability, and improve the user experience. We also understood that users of the Coalition’s website needed access to the content in multiple languages. Thus, we implemented a translation workflow that allows the staff to create and manage information written English and Spanish, enabling visitors to read tailored content in multiple languages.
An inquiry section as built to support personalized email marketing campaignings. Submitted form data is stored internally and externally from the database, so an admin can be sure they are receiving and processing requests for information, and creating a valuable dataset of followers and supporters.
The Coalition for Public Safety wanted to provide a way to visualize their efforts and activities across the country. We suggested and implemented a solution with D3.js. A data driven map was created to allow web visitors a fun way to interact and discover information unique to each state with ongoing works. Data becomes alive when it’s interactive and stimulating.
For proper data housekeeping, Cron jobs are used to clean up the database and to schedule other time-based jobs. For instance, an on-site search capability is a powerful resource to provide. However, rather than crawling your entire database during each search request, we occasionally create new indexes based on the content base and provide quick searches from the indexes instead. By utilizing the right strategy for the job, we can achieve almost any workflow.
We are proud to have created a solution that is helping The Coalition for Public Safety, drive their mission forward.
